David Teenan’s self promotion coupled with the permanent damage caused to the health of the public should warn that this is no recommendation for a position on the ESCRS board.
The only recommendation here should be that the public is safe guarded from those who seek to hide the truth about their many patients damaged by their hands!!

The Royal College of Opththalmologists MUST be notified of this!

Couldn't agree more with everyone! This is outrageous! As if OE need anymore control over the industry, this cannot be allowed to happen surely.

I am sitting here with my eyes stinging as they are so dry and I blame OE completely for not informing me of the very common life lasting side effects.

I too shall be writing to the ESCRS and the Royal College of Ophthalmologists!!!

David Teenan now wants to be put forward to join the board of ESCRS when he can't even admit or put right all the damage and pain he and some of his surgeons have caused to people who have had laser or lens replacement surgery with Optical Express, I'm gob smacked they'd even consider him.
Shame what he's preaching he doesn't put into practice!

He seems to talk the talk but that's it.
If he REALLY loved what he does he would take pride in both sides of his work, when things go wrong admit it and not cover up, play dirty or ignore, try being open about everything the pros and possible damages.
He must be very aware of the huge damage and pain that's been caused by a percentage of patients from Optical Express and yet he'd prefer it being brushed under the carpet!
Until he grows a pair of balls and faces up and sort out ALL the patients who have varying levels of trouble caused by Optical Express for either laser or replacement lens surgery he should NOT be put forward for the ESCRS.

I feel strongly about Mr Teenan being a candidate for the ESCRS board, as I feel he does not possess the morals to carry out such an important position.
Someone who has damaged so many lives yet doesn't seem to care should be struck off, surely it's a crime, to knowingly know you could cause another person serious damage and NOT tell them the FULL degrees of the surgery is a CRIME.

I shall write a letter to the Royal College of Ophthalmologists stating what I have said above, my case and how I feel, for what good it might do, but who knows. I'm sure I'm not alone feeling disgruntled and lied to.

This is definitely another case of the fox guarding the hen house !

As a candidate for the ESCRS board election I ask for your vote. Let me explain why.

Firstly, background on myself. I am Scottish and currently reside in the west of Scotland. I trained throughout the west of Scotland and in Wales, I have been an ophthalmic surgeon since 1993 and have developed a specialist interest in cornea, cataract and refractive surgery. I have held consultant positions in Glasgow, Cardiff and Ayr. I am on the UK specialist registry and for the past 10 years I have been practicing refractive surgery in the UK, currently holding the post of UK Medical Director at Optical Express, the UK's leading eye surgery specialist. I have performed in excess of 45,000 cataract/refractive lens operations and laser vision correction procedures.

I have been a member of ESCRS since 1997. I am also a member of United Kingdom and Ireland Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons as well as the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, in addition to the American Academy of Ophthalmology. For a number of years I have been an examiner in Ophthalmology for the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons, Glasgow and have recently been appointed to the Royal College of Ophthalmologists Refractive Surgery Standards working group.

My goal as a board member of ESCRS is simple.
