I needn't have worried, ex Optical Express surgeon Saj Khan didn’t do much for positively advertising the industry - far from it in my opinion!
Listen here @ 14.47 mins: www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b05r6wyf#auto
I smiled when Saj said, “You can’t guarantee an outcome...”!
I would like Saj to explain who the “we” he referred to is?
And, we can all see what he's doing to promote the ‘hospital’ he works at, but I am interested in hearing what he is actively doing to promote regulation!
When asked, "What do you want to be done?”, he didn’t seem to be able to provide much detail. Lots of “Umms” and not much info...
As a result of that broadcast… tick tock

I would like to make it very clear that my previous reference to Moorfields Eye Hospital did not include Moorfields Private, which is a separate and commercial entity.
www.moorfields-private.co.uk/home
In my opinion the information on Moorfields' website is misleading as the wording suggests that the private surgeons are donating their own enormous profits to the NHS - trust me they're not!
Perhaps Moorfields should clarify that it is only profits generated by the fees paid by private surgeons to use the hospital facilities which funds NHS treatment, not the surgeons' personal profits!

Today’s Mail Online page on laser eye surgery is a blatant advertorial for the London Eye Hospital, so named that anyone would assume the clinic is on a par with Moorfields Eye Hospital. It is not!
www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-30403...vice.html#newcomment
A hospital is, 'an institution providing medical and surgical treatment and nursing care for sick or injured people'.
But doctors Bobby Qureshi and Saj Khan do not treat sick and injured people, they sell refractive eye surgery for vast amounts of money, and just like Optegra and Optical Express, Bobby and Saj are also guilty of operating on healthy eyes, selling unnecessary cataract surgery simply for profit.
And to the best of my knowledge none of my clients have ever been treated at the London Eye Hospital, at least not AFTER they were left with problems!
Now that my fight to have this industry regulated is getting increasing media attention (tick tock) I expect many more independent surgeons to jump on the bandwagon for free advertising in this way. To be fair however, this is not a new direction for Bobby Qureshi, who has fed the press for years with details of his eye surgery fads in return for advertorials.
Also, the section on Lois Roberts was first published by the Daily Mail in 2010, whereas I could have offered the journalist a choice of hundreds more recently damaged patients happy to be interviewed.
www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-13342...rgery-Its-risks.html
Cheap story!
Bobby Qureshi said, "laser eye surgeons are presently only required to be registered as doctors - and no specialist qualifications are legally required"
What a coincidence, John McDonnell said the very same thing on 20 November ’13:
www.publications.parliament.uk/pa/cm2013...2.htm#13112092000001
Shame on you Bobby Qureshi for trying to hijack my campaign for your advertising purposes

Let’s try it - Dear Mr Moulsdale, please will you change your business structure and stop paying your unethical non medical staff commissions to pile 'em high or I’m gonna sue you!!

Have you looked at the legal aspect of giving medical information and processing medical information by people who are not professionals? Only people who have no ethical obligations as professionals can with no consequences misinform, mislead and mould future patients to agree to harmful procedures. Companies providing surgery know this very well and use these staff to their advantage and their financial gain. The first step to fight this harmful behaviour is to legally allow only professionals to be involved in the process. As long as you people know this and still agree to be treated this way do not expect professionalism. If you want to change it, insist on structural changes within these companies.

Steve Schallhorn is 'Global Medical Director' for Optical Express
Watch this video to guess who advises Optical Express on their advertising claims: "99% of people..."
Have a bucket close by as you may need it!
Although not licensed to practise in the UK, Stevie does have shares in Abbott Medical Optics Inc. (AMO), the American company supplying the machines OE surgeons use to damage so many people's eyes!

Rumour says David Moulsdale is moving into China. Apparently the Chinese have small noses and can't wear glasses! Great advertising potential there!!
