Hi all
Has anyone used a medicolegal expert they're happy to recommend? If so. Please can you advise me?

I too am unimpressed by Mark Batterbury, and would agree with the guest poster, that he makes too many assumptions he cannot back up with facts.

I would not recommend Mr Mark Batterbury who works at the Liverpool Royal Hospital, and also has a private practice in Rodney Street Liverpool. He is prone to making too many assumptions, taking as gospel OE's medical notes without knowing the true picture. (eg: what is written in OE's records is not necessarily what actually took place.)

I am also keen to hear which Medicolegal expert does not close ranks with their colleagues, as many of them appear to be either naive, or in the dark as to how Optical Express cowboys conduct business.

(Another victim of OE's botched surgical procedures.)

Consider this!
352 days in a year, divide by 250 = 1.4 reports per day.
Divide 352 by 2 ("half my time") = 2.8 reports per day.

WHEN does Brett Halliday actually sleep??!

Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon medicolegal expert Brett Halliday says,
"If you have a potential case, then if you send me some brief details, I will be able to provide you (at no cost) with my initial views. The chances are that I will have written a report in the past on a similar case."

1999:
"Mr Halliday said: "I have a regular clinic at the hospital, but this will allow me to see outpatients at home in the evenings and at weekends...
It is astronomically expensive to build an operating theatre, but that could be a possibility in the future."
The planning application will go before Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council within the next two months.

Looks like the Doc didn't get planning permission so decided Medicolegal reports were the way to go:

"Since 1997 I have devoted half of my time to medicolegal work, and the other half to clinical ophthalmology."

"Last year I wrote over 250 reports."

Consider this!
352 days in a year, divide by 250 = 1.4 reports per day.
Divide 352 by 2 ("half my time") = 2.8 reports per day.

Then take into account:

"If you have written to me with a query, and I have not replied within 7 days, then it may be that your letter has been lost in the post (unless I am on holiday)...
I do my best to catch up with work when I return from holiday, but occasionally it does take me rather longer than 4 weeks to produce a report."

We can only imagine how many holidays the busy Doc takes, but even without factoring that in, WHEN does Brett Halliday actually sleep??!

Everybody

The Doc is extremely well legally versed and uses services of a firm of "costs consultants" from Bristol who operate on the other side of what most of you reading this would consider legal.

Things like fraudulent claims of court costs and unauthorised conduct of reserved legal activities (both of which are criminal offences) have been alleged in courts but didn't stick so far.

Be careful what you say and do, and if you want to say and do something then make absolutely sure you have WRITTEN evidence to support what you say. In Doc's case, make sure you have documents with his ORIGINAL signatures on.

If enough of you have written evidence with his original signatures on his documents then you may go somewhere otherwise you are all wasting your breath.

"Last year I wrote over 250 reports."
250 x £2-3k = £500 -750,000

Brett Halliday's medicolegal reports generally support OE and not the injured clients who pay him approx 3,000 pounds a time!

It would be advisable that anyone considering consulting Doc Halliday for a medicolegal report ask to see his report statistics first!

I personally believe Brett Halliday isn't much cop, I know some folks use him as their medicolegal specialist in litigation cases and know of someone who saw him with regards to initiating proceedings. He was useless and didn't give a positive report, yet the same person later filed a serious complaint with the GMC which is being upheld.
