I was at Optical Express yesterday & think I was very lucky to be there that day!! The lovely people outside the clinic were kind enough to tell me the terrible problems they have because of this surgery & helped make up my mind not to risk it.

There was a lot of fuss going on in & outside the clinic & the staff gave a letter to all of us waiting which inferred what the protesters were saying was all lies & said none of them had surgery at Optical Express.

It was signed by Professor Steve Schallhorn MD Global Medical Director for Optical Express & said "Dear Patient, I would like to personally apologise for any inconvenience the small protest outside the clinic may have caused you. The right to protest is framed in law and we understand and support this right; but we certainly contest the assertions made by the protesters. It is not clear if we treated any of the protesters. However, the individual leading the protest is definitely not a patient of Optical Express, we NEVER treated her ."

It said Optical Express is proud to be the Global leader in the refractive surgery industry & how safe it is etc. There was no mention of Lens Exchange which I was considering until two of the protesters told me they have serious problems after the same operation & can't see as well as they did BEFORE their operations!!

The leader of the protest turned out to be Sasha Rodoy & I now understand why Professor Steve Schallhorn didn't name her in his letter because he didn't want us to know the truth!

I spoke to the people protesting outside when i left & saw 3 who had been inside earlier waiting to see Professer Venter because they had problems.

Professor Steve Schallhorn LIED & couldn't have been there because the address on the letter was in Scotland!!

Big relief that I heard the truth before putting myself in the same place these people are

It doesn't bear thinking about how he'd have felt if he paid for her eyes to be ruined!
So many people passing the clinic asked for flyers and information. There were at least two people coincidentally passing by also damaged by laser eye surgery wanting info. A very productive day that helped spread the message how this company and industry have been getting away with this scandal for so long.

Looking forward to next week's demo

Sounds great, how many turned out? Any reaction from OE (grin)?

I was unfortunately unable to attend but was there in spirit.
However I did once again convince someone who was contemplating surgery with OE to have a rethink. She told me yesterday that she had decided against surgery and will stay with specs.
I run a shop and come into contact daily with many people. Every time I talk to someone who wears glasses I ask them if they have ever considered laser eye surgery? Many of them have. I then warn them and usually they are grateful and often return to tell me that they have changed their minds on the strength of my warning. Every time I can convince someone against surgery I feel a small sense of satisfaction that I am depriving OE of profit.

For those not close to London, we are all there in spirit.

Hope it all went well and was fruitful.
