“Since launching my campaign in 2012 I have been contacted by thousands of people with problems caused by laser eye surgery across the industry, but in 2014 the numbers with problems with replacement lenses rocketed,” said Sasha Rodoy, who runs the website Optical Express Ruined My Life, and who is campaigning for tighter regulation.
“For three years I have ensured that health secretary Jeremy Hunt was aware of the serious problems within this industry, but only after increased pressure did the health minister Dan Poulter recently agree to meet with me on 20 January. I hope now they listen.”
'According to Optical Express, what resulted from operations on Jackson’s eyes in August and September – while acknowledging “an issue with high-order aberrations” such as haloes and poor night vision – was “a very good ocular outcome.”'*
* This was of course according to Stephen Hannan

"After facing a flurry of cattiness when she appeared a little bedraggled, with heavily smudged black make-up, at the GQ awards in September, the TV star breezily tweeted: “Oh my. They’re not wrong. Eyeliner going in the bin.”
Yet on Sunday at the Baftas, despite her £525 Alice Temperley gown, fans couldn’t help but notice that her eyes were looking panda-ish again.
Now the 42-year-old Strictly Come Dancing presenter has revealed just how this kind of things seems to happen.
"“I don’t have any mirrors in my house, because I don’t believe in what we look like. And I’ve got really bad eyesight,” she says."

"Mel B has reportedly postponed a vital operation as rumours of marriage troubles with husband Stephen Belafonte continue.
The Spice Girl star revealed earlier this month how she was planning surgery to correct a problem from laser surgery which went wrong 15 years ago.
She told Hello! magazine: "I can't see at all out of my left eye. The lasering went wrong so this will be totally life-changing.""

BBC Radio 4 'You & Yours' interview
In a statement to BBC Radio 4 'You & Yours' on 18 December, the Optical Express spokesman did what PR companies are paid vast sums of money to do - twisted the facts so they bore no resemblance to the truth!
They said: " A number of OE employees have contacted Facebook, the ICO, and Police, regarding unacceptable online communications... rcvd by, or referring to them... (including) a photograph of a head of a slaughtered pig... insults, false allegations, and the posting of personal details, such as tel numbers and a link to their home address."
In fact, the only home address I have ever seen posted on OERML (not Facebook) was a screenshot from the College of Optometrists website, detailing Stephen Hannan's home address as his "Practice 2" address. (Topic: Ex OE employee: ask me a question! 25 Mar 2014 12:30)
The only phone numbers published on OERML and/or Facebook are OE employees' work numbers, included in any OE correspondence sent via email and letter.
And the "head of a slaughtered pig's head" photo that so upset Stephen Hannan was a joke, as can be seen below.
The PR statement spun it to sound like Marlon Brando had been involved.
OE saw me outside the Harley Street clinic that morning, which is why their PR company swung into action with their statement only minutes before the broadcast, ensuring I had no time to respond, even though they'd had days to comment!
As for opinions from the 'media lawyer'; programme producer, Rob Cave, confirmed that he knew nothing about OERML and had never seen this website!

"Facebook has removed a 'gripe site' set up to warn people against having laser eye surgery. Are fears of defamation closing Facebook down as a viable forum for complaint about companies?"

After Mel B spoke abut her laser eye surgery 'gone wrong' on the Jonathan Ross show in October, I spoke with her American PR agent who forwarded my details, asking Mel to contact me.
Disappointingly no response.
Having seen today's story in the Daily Mirror, I have emailed Mel’s agent again, and an interested journalist is contacting her UK team tomorrow.
With Mel’s support we have guaranteed media cover, and My Beautiful Eyes campaign would be headline news - with the government publicly shamed for their continued stalling tactics (update on that soon).
We so need Mel’s support to help blow this scandal sky high at long last!
"Former Spice Girl Mel B has revealed she can’t see out of her left eye.
The X Factor judge admitted that she would soon be having an eye operation to correct a problem from laser surgery which went wrong 15 years ago.
She told Hello! magazine: "I can't see at all out of my left eye. The lasering went wrong so this will be totally life-changing.”"
