Replied by admin on topic URGENT: The Guardian needs to hear from you!

Posted 12 Oct 2013 12:04 #191
Let's see if The Guardian will print some truths!

www.theguardian.com/money/blog/2013/oct/...ve-laser-eye-surgery
Every week a Guardian Money reader submits a question, and it's up to you to help him or her out – a selection of the best answers will appear in next Saturday's paper.

This week's question:
I'm short sighted, really fed up with wearing contact lenses, and am thinking of having my eyes lasered. I've seen various prices quoted – from £1,200-£2,000. How much should I be paying and, more importantly, will it work? Anyone who's done it got any tips. Is it going to hurt?"

Replied by Observing on topic 2005 Regulation of Laser Eye Surgery Bill

Posted 29 May 2013 11:24 #192
centrallobby.politicshome.com/legislatio...bill-200506-session/

"He (Frank Cook) believes that there is currently a worrying lack of regulation over laser treatment, with faulty machines leaving a significant number of patients with damaged eyesight."

Information which begs the question why the industry has been allowed to continue unregulated for so long?!

If Optical Express welcome legislation perhaps David Moulsdale can explain why OE threatened to sue the Royal College of Ophthalmologists in 2005 when Frank Cook (deceased) presented a Bill calling for Regulation of the Laser Eye Surgery industry which was then brushed into obscurity?

There are others better placed who should speak out & expose the corruption within this industry before they themselves are exposed for their part in it.

Replied by Observing on topic BBC East Midlands Today: Chantal Cooper

Quote to BBC from Optical Express, "We would welcome independent regulation..."

Let me get this straight! Sasha Rodoy has allegedly been banned by OE from accompanying 'My Beautiful Eyes' clients to their premises, but they claim to "welcome" her campaign for regulation!!

Please would someone from Optical Express explain their rationale because this is totally contradictory & makes no sense to me!?

Optical Express assured the BBC that they welcome government legislation for the industry:

Yet in 2012 campaigner Sasha Rodoy was asked by OE troubleshooter Patrick James Green - on behalf of his employer David Moulsdale - how much it was worth for her to give up her campaign.

OERML will be seeking confirmation from CEO David Moulsdale that he has now decided to support Ms Rodoy's My Beautiful Eyes Campaign for government legislation.

See 'True Stories' for Chantal's full story.

NB: This will be updated soon following OE's comments!
